01 / THE HOUSE OF LINEN JUNCTION “True linen does not wear out; it wears in.”

A Dedicated Textile Sanctuary on Pune’s Dhole Patil Road.

Buying linen should never be guesswork. Synthetic blends and chemical stiffeners often masquerade as linen on retail racks, losing their structure after a single wash. At Linen Junction, our tables hold only genuine flax—spun from long-staple European fibers and woven on high-tension looms.

Situated at Linen Vogue, 1, Dhole Patil Road, Pune 411001, our showroom operates in the tradition of a classic cloth merchant. Whether you are commissioning a crisp ivory shirt, an unlined summer blazer, a festive kurta-bundi ensemble, or floor-to-ceiling residential drapery, you examine the bolt in natural daylight before a single meter is cut.

Why Pure Flax Outperforms Every Synthetic Blend.

True linen is spun from the bast fibers inside the stalk of the flax plant. Unlike short cotton fibers that trap heat and fuzz over time, long flax filaments conduct heat away from the skin and gain luster with every laundering.

01.

Hollow-Core Thermoregulation

Flax fibers are naturally hollow, absorbing up to 20% of their dry weight in moisture without feeling damp against the skin—keeping wearer skin temperature 3°C to 4°C cooler in Pune’s summer heat.

02.

High Tensile Bast Strength

Nearly twice as strong as cotton, long-staple flax resists thread breakage at collars, cuffs, and seams. A well-tailored linen shirt routinely endures ten or more years of regular wear.

03.

Progressive Pectin Softening

Natural pectins within the flax fiber relax gently with each cold wash, transforming crisp new yardage into a supple, fluid drape that molds to its owner.

04.

Understanding the Lea Count

Linen fineness is measured in Lea (the number of 300-yard hanks per pound of yarn). A 40s lea offers a bold, casual slub for trousers and jackets; an 80s or 100s lea yields a silky, featherweight dress shirt.

Frequently Asked Questions

Guidance from our cloth desk
Should I pre-wash pure linen fabric before giving it to my tailor? +

Most of our European shirting and enzyme-washed linens are sanforized and pre-shrunk at the mill. However, for raw or unbleached handloom linens, a gentle cold-water soak prior to cutting—or allowing a 4% to 5% margin in cut length—ensures an exact lifelong fit. Our counter staff will advise you on the specific bolt you select.

Which yarn count (Lea) is best for Pune’s weather? +

For daily shirts in March through June, 60 Lea and 80 Lea pure linens provide an ideal balance of airflow and opacity without clinging. For structured bandhgalas, trousers, or evening jackets, 40 Lea to 50 Lea heavier weaves (220+ GSM) drape cleanly with minimal wrinkling.

How should authentic linen garments be laundered and pressed? +

Wash in cold or lukewarm water with a mild liquid detergent; never use chlorine bleach or high-heat tumble dryers, which brittle natural bast fibers. Line-dry in the shade and press with a steam iron while the cloth is still slightly damp.
